Tourism

Turkey is one of the top tourism destinations in the world with more than 30 million people visiting each year. The shoreline along the Mediterranean and Aegean seas is extremely popular for beach tourism. Turkey has many cultural and historical sites that draw people from all over the world. Moreover, the mountainous regions of Turkey are suitable for winter tourism, which has experienced some momentum in recent years with the increases in the investments in this sector. In general, the western half of Turkey has the highest accommodation capacity. Antalya and Muğla, two southwestern coastal cities, are at the top of the list.

Increasing temperatures will most likely positively affect the sun and beach tourism in Turkey by extending the warm season. Additionally, shorelines that are now undeveloped will be suitable for beach tourism.

On the other hand, the same increasing temperatures will negatively affect winter tourism, leading to the reduction of snow cover in the future.
